Rebrand Celebration & Open House to Feature Abby Kohut (National Job Search Guru)
The Career Support Group at St. Gregory the Great has been in the fast lane of providing area residents with job search help for more than six years. On Saturday, September 19, 2015, job aspirations and hope come together during an open house recognizing the our REBRAND CELEBRATION & OPEN HOUSE featuring a special presentation by job search guru and trailblazer, Abby Kohut, a.k.a Absolutely Abby.
The event celebrates the group’s rebranding and new name, Career Support Group at St. Gregory the Great (formerly the Network Group), which more accurately depicts its mission. Every month, the group hosts a job search and career transition support meeting for the community at large. Hundreds of displaced workers and those in career transition have walked through its doors and found a safe haven in which they could network, share job search tips, interact with career experts, accelerate their career transition, and most importantly – – find hope.
The job market continues to be a challenge for many, including mature workers and skilled professionals despite New Jersey’s low unemployment rate. Market shifts include workforce participation rates at historic lows, the relocation of larger employers out-of-state, accelerated mergers, and the continuing trend towards part-time work to offset regulatory pressures and higher employer health care costs.
The Career Support Group’s has a unique proposition – “where job seekers and jobholders are part of an organization where they can learn, network, and connect with one another.” That is a large part why the group has been successful. Those who have landed are appreciative at having been able to practice interviewing skills or dialogue without judgment with those currently employed. Sometimes it takes a village to hold a hand, lend an ear, or become an advocate for those seeking a new position.
